History of foreign policy of Spain

The history of Spain's foreign policy since the formation of a unified state on the Iberian Peninsula at the end of XV century to the start of XXI century is presented in a Russian textbook for the first time. The main events in Spanish diplomatic history are examined as are the central areas of focus for Spain's foreign policy – Europe, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, and the relationship dynamics between Madrid and other countries and regions. Portraits are sketched of the most influential state figures, foreign ministers and most famous diplomats.

Also shown is the multilateral interconnection between foreign and domestic policy on the basis of Spain's position in Europe and the world. It is for the first time in the historiography of Spanish foreign policy that the main issues in the history of Russo-Spanish relations are laid out.

Written for university students of history and international relations, and also as an additional textbook for area studies.
