The fall of the Antonescu dictatorship

The reign of fascist dictator Ion Antonescu was a dark period in the history of Romania, when the country, being in Hitler's bondage, participated in the anti-Soviet war. Based on rich documentary material taken from the archives, the book covers this period. It reveals the contradictions in the fascist Romanian top brass, Hitler's attitude to the rivalry between I. Antonescu and the "Iron Guard", a prominent place is given to the study of the process of the revolutionary situation in Romania, the armed uprising of August 23, 1944 and the subsequent struggle under the leadership of the Communist Party for the coming to power of a democratic government. The book shows the decisive role of the USSR in the liberation of Romania from the fascist yoke. Being a scientific study, the book is at the same time vividly and interestingly written and will attract the attention of a wide range of readers.
