With the growing number of international conferences, meetings and forums of all kinds, the role of translation has increased immeasurably. The organization of the interpreter's work, his or her business qualities, and methods of preparation for work at meetings covering a wide variety of subjects have become extremely important. The experience of participating in the work of such conferences shows that, despite the variety of terminology used at them, there is a certain range of vocabulary that is constantly used in the work of an international translator. In most cases, this vocabulary consists of equivalents, i.e. constant and equivalent correspondences that do not depend on the context. In the process of transferring a message from one language to another, the translator acts as an intermediary, and the successful fulfillment of this function requires the ability to compare two language systems extremely quickly, operating with whole language units. The comparison of two language systems, which requires instantaneous switching of the mind from foreign language to native language and vice versa, is possible only on the basis of good knowledge and automated use of linguistic equivalents.
